Natalie L. Friedman
The Natalie L. Friedman Legacy Fund
In honor of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister-in-law, Natalie L. Friedman, who was the most wonderful, caring, compassionate, giving and loving person that our family has ever known, we have established this donation web page.
Over the past 5 years of her remarkable life, Mom struggled with a terrible disease called Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP). Mom was a vibrant, energetic woman who put family above all else and worked tirelessly to care for and help both her family and friends. It was very difficult for our family to see such a warm, giving and active person to lose her physical abilities. However, despite the crippling effects of PSP, Mom always maintained an amazingly positive and optimistic attitude.
Mom faced the adversity of her illness with courage, dignity, grace, and humor.
Mom was happiest in the kitchen, where she was always preparing delicious meals for both special occasions and for everyday family meals. The artistic and creative side of Mom found an outlet in sewing beautiful handbags, totes, and aprons and crafting unique butterfly and waxed leaves pictures and glass-topped trays to give as special gifts to family and friends.
Our family became gravely worried back in 2010, when this extraordinary woman, who was in excellent health, started to lose her balance, motor control, and coordination, resulting in numerous falls and injuries. When losing her balance, we noticed that Mom always fell backward to the right. After many trips to numerous medical professionals, Mom was diagnosed with PSP. We were shocked to learn that there was absolutely no treatment for PSP and the prognosis was grim, with a life expectancy of 5 to 7 years.
Mom passed away in March of 2015. We hope that by establishing this fund, we will raise the awareness of PSP, and hopefully help to find a cure for this crippling disease, while also helping families currently living with PSP.
Please join us in honoring Natalie with a donation to CurePSP.
